Incure CDM™ + M62 — Doubling the M51’s Beam Depth for Wider Bond Interfaces

  • Post last modified:August 31, 2026

A bond interface that’s wider than the lamp head above it either gets a second pass with repositioning, or it gets partial cure at the edges — neither is a good option once the line is running at production speed.

Wider Coverage Without Losing the Focused-Beam Advantage

The Incure CDM™ + M62 pairs the CDM™ 9-inch polypropylene belt conveyor with the M-Series™ M62 focused-beam lamp head — 108 LEDs concentrated into a 6″×2″ strip that doubles the beam depth of the CDM™ + M51’s 5″×1″ footprint. Delivered as a complete system, it provides 3,100 mW/cm² at 365 nm across the full 6″×2″ zone, belt-speed dose control from 7,750 to 62,000 mJ/cm² UVA, PLC/RS-232/foot-switch integration, and greater than 20,000-hour LED service life at up to 2-inch maximum part width.

Cures 2-Inch Bond Interfaces the M51 Configuration Cannot Cover in One Pass

The CDM™ + M51 covers a 1-inch-wide beam path. Parts with bond interfaces wider than that — gasket rings, edge-bonded laminates, multi-joint substrates — require repositioning or multiple passes under the M51 to fully expose the bond face. The CDM™ + M62 doubles that beam depth to 2 inches, curing the full interface in a single conveyor pass at the same 6-inch illuminated length along the belt-travel direction, which removes the indexing step and the step-cure variation it introduces at each reposition.

Confirming which beam depth actually matches a given bond interface’s width, before committing to a repositioning workflow, is worth a quick check. Email Us with the interface dimensions and Incure can confirm the right configuration.

108 LEDs Hold Intensity Across the Full Width — No Edge Falloff

Doubling beam depth without adding LED count would dilute irradiance across the wider zone. The M62 avoids that by using 108 LEDs — double the M51’s 45 — so intensity at 2-inch working distance holds at 3,100 mW/cm² at 365 nm uniformly across the entire 6″×2″ (152 mm × 51 mm) footprint. There’s no intensity gradient across the 2-inch depth, so a bond pad at the edge of the beam receives the same dose as one at the center.

Selective Exposure at a Wider Scale

Flood configurations on the CDM™ cure everything within their footprint — the bond line and whatever sits around it. The M62 maintains focused-beam selectivity even at the wider 2-inch depth: components outside the 6″×2″ beam width remain unexposed. That makes it the right choice for assemblies with adjacent heat-sensitive or pre-bonded components that need to stay outside the UV zone during inline cure, but whose actual bond interface is too wide for the M51’s narrower strip.

Dose Control Across the Belt-Speed Range

At the nominal 6 ft/min belt speed, the M62 delivers 15,500 mJ/cm² UVA to the bond line per pass. Belt speed adjusts continuously from 1.5 to 12.0 ft/min, scaling dose from 62,000 mJ/cm² UVA at the slowest setting to 7,750 mJ/cm² UVA at the fastest — a wide enough range to accommodate both a deep cure on a thick bond line and a fast cycle once the process is qualified, without swapping the lamp head.

Full Specifications

108-LED array in a 6″×2″ (152 mm × 51 mm) strip; peak intensity 3,100 mW/cm² at 365 nm and 2,600 mW/cm² at 385/395/405 nm at 2-inch working distance. Wavelength is factory-configured at order. The conveyor runs the standard 9-inch polypropylene belt at 1.5–12.0 ft/min, with 2-inch maximum part width and 0.5″–2.0″ adjustable curing height. External control is PLC/RS-232/foot switch, auto-ranging 100–240 V power input.

Part of a Configurable Platform

The M62 head is one option on the Incure CDM™ UV Conveyor chassis, which also accepts the narrower M51 focused-beam head, LED flood heads, and mercury-arc flood heads on the same conveyor — a change in bond geometry means swapping the head, not sourcing a new conveyor. The same M62 beam is available as a standalone bench unit within the Incure M-Series™ UV Focused Beam Curing Systems family, and its 3,100 mW/cm² output matches the L-Series™ L64/L88 flood configurations at 385/395/405 nm — the M62 achieves the same figure with a defined-beam footprint instead of a full flood.

Choosing Between Belt-Speed Range and Positional Control

Because the M62 offers PLC, RS-232, and foot-switch integration on top of belt-speed adjustment, a line designer isn’t limited to dose tuning through speed alone — the same architecture supports interlocks tied to part-present sensing, automated cycle logging, or coordination with upstream and downstream stations on a shared PLC. That’s a meaningful difference from the mercury-arc configurations available on the same CDM™ chassis, which are governed by belt speed only. For a line already being designed around programmable logic control, specifying the M62 (or any other LED head on the platform) keeps that control architecture consistent from station to station rather than introducing a speed-only outlier.

LED Service Life on a Continuous-Run Line

Rated at greater than 20,000 hours of service life with typical intensity loss capped at 20% over that period, the M62’s LED array is built for the maintenance rhythm of a continuous-run line rather than the roughly 2,000-hour bulb-replacement cycle of a mercury-arc configuration on the same chassis. That difference matters most on lines running multiple shifts, where a bulb change means downtime on the conveyor itself, not just a component swap on a bench unit. Periodically re-verifying output against the rated intensity-loss curve keeps a qualified process within its original dose window as the array ages toward that 20,000-hour mark.

Verifying Eye Protection at Line Speed

Before commissioning an M62 line, confirm operator eyewear is rated for this output level — see the Incure Vison™ eyewear specification. Curing energy figures are estimated from measured irradiance profile, the 6-inch illuminated length, and belt speed; actual dose depends on working distance, part height, and reflectivity.
