Securing Blender Motor Bearings for Serviceability

  • Post last modified:October 9, 2025

Blender motor bearings are subjected to high rotational speed, continuous load, and significant shock when blending hard ingredients. They require a secure fit to prevent movement and noise. However, appliance motors often need to be serviceable for repairs or bearing replacement, demanding a retaining compound that is secure yet allows for easier disassembly.

This is a Medium Strength, Serviceable application.

INCURE WeldLock™ 338 Retaining Compound (Yellow)

The INCURE WeldLock™ 338 Retaining Compound is the ideal functional “Medium Strength” solution. It is designed for assemblies where future disassembly is required, providing enough holding power to resist rotational slip and vibration without making bearing removal a destructive process.

Key FeaturePerformance for Blender Motor Bearings
Serviceable Bond (Yellow)Designed for assemblies requiring removal or repositioning. Locks the bearing securely but allows for easier, non-destructive separation for motor maintenance.
Excellent Vibration ResistanceProvides reliable holding power against continuous high-speed rotation and blending shock, preventing the bearing from shifting or rattling.
Gap Fill (Up to 0.25mm)Effectively fills the annular space, ensuring a solid, unified interface between the bearing and the motor housing/end bell.
Temperature Resistance (150∘C)Maintains integrity under standard motor operational temperatures.

Application Steps: Installing Blender Motor Bearings

For optimal retention and reliable, yet removable, installation of the motor bearing, follow these steps:

1. Surface Preparation (The Foundation)

  1. Clean: Thoroughly clean the housing bore (end bell) and the bearing’s outer race. Surfaces must be absolutely free of all grease, oil, and old compound residue. Use an industrial cleaner (e.g., acetone) and wipe dry.
  2. Activate (If Needed): If the ambient temperature is below 15∘C (59∘F), applying a chemical activator can ensure faster, more consistent curing.

2. Product Application

  1. Apply: Apply a continuous, thin bead of WeldLock™ 338 around the full circumference of either the outer race of the bearing or the internal bore of the housing.
  2. Ensure Coverage: Ensure the adhesive completely wets the entire mating surface as the components slide together.

3. Assembly and Curing

  1. Assemble: Immediately slide or press the bearing into the housing bore. Ensure the components are aligned correctly before the compound fixtures.
  2. Wipe Excess: Remove any excess adhesive visible outside the joint immediately after assembly.
  3. Cure: Allow the assembly to fixture before handling (typically 10-30 minutes). Allow a full 24 hours for the compound to reach maximum strength before placing the motor back into service.
