Sealing Compressor End Covers for Peak Performance

  • Post last modified:October 9, 2025

Compressor end covers (on screw, reciprocating, or centrifugal compressors) are subjected to extreme operational demands: continuous high system pressure, intense heat generated during compression, and severe vibration from the machine’s cycling. A failure here results in a devastating loss of pressure, efficiency, and potentially internal damage from oil leaks.

Don’t let a minor seal issue derail your entire air system and productivity.

INCURE HeatGrip™ 503 High-Temp Anaerobic Flange Sealant

While the flexible HeatGrip™ 504 is a strong generalist, the high-pressure and high-temperature environment of an air or gas compressor demands the ultimate rigid seal. The INCURE HeatGrip™ 503 High-Temp sealant is engineered for these extreme operating conditions, creating a rigid, chemically inert barrier.

Feature & BenefitTechnical Insight for Compressor End CoversConversion Value
High-Temperature StabilityRated for continuous operation up to 200∘C (392∘F), ensuring the seal remains stable even with the high operational heat generated in the compression chamber.End the Heat Wars:
Get a seal that refuses to degrade under maximum thermal load.
Superior Pressure ResistanceCures to a high-strength, rigid plastic that provides maximum resistance to high internal pressures, critical for maintaining system efficiency and pressure containment.Lock in the Pressure:
Achieve a permanent, absolute seal that maximizes your compressor’s output and uptime.
Oil & Gas ImmunityChemically inert to compressor oils, synthetic lubricants, and compressed air/gas, preventing degradation of the seal material.Protect Your Investment: Ensure the sealant won’t break down or contaminate the compressed medium.
Minimal Gap SealingThe 503 is ideal for close-tolerance, rigid flanges typical of precision-machined compressor casings, forming a perfect, gap-free seal.Precision for Performance: Trust a seal designed for the close tolerances of professional machinery.

Application Steps: Sealing Compressor End Covers for Permanent Integrity

  1. Preparation (Safety First): Thoroughly clean both flange faces—remove all previous gasket material, residue, and compressor oil. Use a degreasing solvent (like acetone) and wipe until the metal surfaces are perfectly dry.
  2. Application: Apply a continuous, thin bead of HeatGrip™ 503 onto one flange face, circling all bolt holes. Use a roller or spreader to create a uniform, thin film across the entire mating surface.
  3. Assembly: Immediately mate the end cover to the casing (within 5 minutes). Torque the bolts to the manufacturer’s specified value to ensure even clamping and proper anaerobic curing.
  4. Curing Time (Critical): Allow a full 24 hours for the sealant to cure completely. This time is mandatory to achieve maximum pressure and thermal resistance before subjecting the compressor to high operational loads.
