Engine timing covers are critical flanges that enclose the timing chain or belt and prevent oil and pressurized crankcase gases from escaping. Application Steps: Sealing Engine Timing Covers for Zero Leaks

  1. Preparation (Absolute Cleanliness): This step is mandatory. Thoroughly clean both the block face and the cover flange. Remove all old sealant, gasket material, oil, and coolant. Use a degreasing solvent (like acetone) and wipe until the metal surfaces are perfectly clean and dry.
  2. Application: Apply a continuous, uniform bead of HeatGrip™ 508 onto the cover flange, circling all bolt holes and carefully following the perimeter of any internal oil passages. Use a spatula to create a uniform, thin film. Avoid applying a thick bead.
