Eyeglasses are subjected to constant, micro-vibration from daily activity and user handling. A loose screw causes the arms to flop, the lenses to rattle, and—in the case of rimless frames—can cause the lenses to detach, leading to misalignment or breakage. Since glasses are frequently adjusted or repaired, the screws must be easily removable.
Don’t let vibration ruin your vision; secure the screws with a safe, low-strength chemical lock.
INCURE Re-Lok™ B22 Purple Light Duty Threadlocking Adhesive
For securing extremely small-diameter fasteners (typically under M3 or 1/8′′) like those found on eyewear, the lowest strength product is required to prevent accidental thread stripping in the hinge or frame upon removal. The INCURE Re-Lok™ B22 Purple provides sufficient anti-vibration security that is easily overcome by a precision screwdriver.
| Feature & Benefit | Technical Insight for Eyeglasses Screws | Conversion Value |
| Low Strength (Light Duty) | Designed for fasteners up to M6, providing anti-vibration security that allows for easy removal with a precision screwdriver. | Damage Prevention: Secure the tiny screws without the risk of stripping the delicate frame threads upon service. |
| Small Fastener Focus | Ideal for the extremely low torque requirements of optical hardware, which prevents over-torquing and bending of the frame. | Precision Lock: Secures the screws without interfering with the hinge’s range of motion. |
| Vibration Security | Cures inside the micro-gap between the threads, blocking the high-frequency vibration from backing the screw out during wear. | Stop the Rattle: Ensures a tight, quiet assembly where micro-movement is eliminated. |
| Thixotropic Viscosity | Exhibits excellent flow control, ensuring the product stays precisely on the threads and does not run onto the lenses or frame finish. | Clean Application: Use the product exactly where needed, avoiding cosmetic or functional contamination. |
Application Steps: Securing Glasses Screws for Reliability
Preparation (Mandatory): Clean the threads of the screw and the hinge or frame component thoroughly. Use a small cotton swab or soft cloth dipped in isopropanol (rubbing alcohol) to remove any oil, ensuring the parts are dry.
Application: Apply a single, microscopic pinpoint amount of Re-Lok™ B22 Purple to the middle threads of the screw. A very small amount is all that is needed.
Assembly: Carefully reinstall the screw and tighten gently until snug. Avoid over-torquing. The threadlocker will provide the security.
Curing Time (Practical): While the initial cure is fast (around 20 minutes), allow a few hours for the adhesive to fully set before subjecting the glasses to heavy use or folding them frequently.
Stop risking dangerous rattling and frame damage; secure your eyewear with precision and chemical certainty.
Note on Alternatives: While you may hear of people using clear nail polish or Super Glue (Cyanoacrylate), these are not recommended chemical solutions. Nail polish is weak, can dry cloudy, and contains solvents that may harm plastic frames. Super Glue can off-gas fumes that cloud plastic lenses and, if it cures inside the hinge, it can make disassembly virtually impossible without breaking the frame. A low-strength anaerobic threadlocker is the only professional, reversible solution.
