23% Narrower Than the SN-25
At 0.335 mm inner diameter, the SN-27 is 23% narrower than the SN-25’s 0.437 mm bore — narrow enough to reach bond sites where the SN-25 bead still deposits excess material: jewellery stone settings, micro-electronics tack pads, semiconductor component mounting, and fine-pitch PCB repair work. It’s the finest practical gauge available before the SN-30 (0.234 mm) introduces the extreme backpressure that microdispensing at that scale requires.
Very High Viscosity, Very Small Deposit
The SN-27 is rated for very high viscosity adhesives — the same class the SN-25 and SN-23 handle — but delivered at a fraction of the deposit diameter. That makes it the right choice specifically when the material itself needs to stay thick (for particle loading, sag resistance, or gap-fill performance) but the target feature is too small for a standard fine-pitch needle.
Coating Becomes the Determining Factor at This Bore
At 0.335 mm ID, tip-face wetting and stringing become the dominant failure mode rather than raw flow rate. Nickel PTFE coating is strongly recommended at this gauge — the low-surface-energy layer is the most effective mitigation against material clinging to the tip face between shots, which otherwise shows up as inconsistent dot size or a trailing string that drags across the part on needle retraction.

Like every gauge in the range, the SN-27 is machined from phosphor bronze rather than steel — non-magnetic, non-ferrous, and chemically inert to very high viscosity adhesives, UV formulations, and cyanoacrylates. On assemblies with magnetic sensors or precision optical alignment components nearby, that construction removes ferrous contamination as a variable without adding a particle sweep step to the process.
Red Hub, Standard Barrel, No Adapters
The SN-27’s red polypropylene Luer Lock hub is the industry-standard color code for this bore size, letting operators confirm gauge at a glance when several Sniper™ needles are staged at one station. It seats on any standard 1cc to 30cc barrel with no proprietary fittings required — the same barrel and dispensing controller used across the rest of a line works without modification.

Physical Spec and Ordering
The SN-27 shares the same 0.709 in (18 mm) overall length and roughly 0.016 oz (0.454 g) weight as every other gauge in the Sniper™ range, shipping 10 needles per pack. Ordering uses the same P/N logic as the rest of the line — SN-27-[Material]-[Coating] — with phosphor bronze (PB) or nickel silver (NS) material codes and NC, EN, NPTFE, NP, or PY coating codes; the strongly recommended configuration for most SN-27 production work is SN-27-PB-NPTFE rather than the plain no-coating baseline. Because the finer bore makes coating a bigger factor in reliable flow at this gauge than at the SN-25 or SN-23, specifying the coating deliberately at order time is worth the extra step rather than defaulting to No Coating and discovering stringing issues on the line.
Where the SN-27 Sits Between Two Very Different Neighbors
On one side, the SN-25 (0.437 mm) handles the same very-high-viscosity material class at a wider bore and lower backpressure — the right fallback if the SN-27’s dispensing pressure requirements turn out to exceed what a standard barrel-and-air-pressure setup can reliably sustain. On the other side, the SN-30 (0.234 mm) pushes another 30% narrower for sub-quarter-millimetre work, at correspondingly higher pressure. The SN-27 is a genuine middle point in the range rather than an arbitrary gauge step — it’s specifically where microdispensing-scale deposit control becomes possible without yet requiring the extreme backpressure and syringe-pump-only handling the SN-30 demands.
Reading Deposit Failures Correctly
When a deposit at this gauge comes out inconsistent, it’s worth diagnosing the actual cause before assuming a coating or gauge change is needed. Underfilled or missing dots often trace back to trapped air in the barrel rather than the needle; a trailing string on retraction usually points to tip-face wetting, which coating addresses directly; and a dot that’s consistently oversized despite correct programming can mean the barrel pressure or dwell time was set for a wider gauge and never adjusted after a gauge change. Isolating which failure mode is actually occurring — rather than reflexively trying a different needle — saves a production line from cycling through hardware changes that don’t address the real problem.
