Securing Fairing Screws Against Vibration and Loss

  • Post last modified:October 10, 2025

Fairing screws and body panel fasteners are subjected to constant, high-frequency road and engine vibration and relentless wind shear at high speeds. While their primary function is visual and aerodynamic, a lost fairing screw can lead to panel rattling, damage, and ultimately, the loss of an entire fairing section. Crucially, these fasteners must be easily removed for routine maintenance (e.g., oil changes, battery checks, or accessory installation).

Don’t let vibration ruin your plastics; secure the screws while keeping panels accessible.

INCURE Re-Lok™ B22 Purple Light Duty Threadlocking Adhesive

For small-diameter fasteners (typically M6 and smaller) that are often metal-to-plastic or metal-to-metal on body panels, a low-strength, easily removable product is essential. The INCURE Re-Lok™ B22 Purple provides a secure anti-vibration lock designed for small threads, ensuring the fasteners stay in place until you decide to remove them.

Feature & BenefitTechnical Insight for Fairing ScrewsConversion Value
Low Strength (Light Duty)Provides enough thread lock to prevent vibration-induced loosening for fasteners up to M6, but allows for easy removal with basic hand tools.Hassle-Free Maintenance: Secure the panels without the risk of stripped threads during disassembly.
Small Fastener FocusIdeal for the delicate size and low torque requirements of plastic and body panel screws, preventing over-stressing the plastic or thin metal inserts.Plastic-Safe Security: Designed for small fasteners where high torque and permanent bonding are detrimental.
Thixotropic ViscosityExhibits excellent flow control, ensuring the product stays on the threads during application and assembly without dripping onto visible paintwork.Clean Application: Use the product precisely where needed, avoiding cosmetic contamination.
Vibration SecurityCures inside the thread gap, blocking high-frequency vibration from backing out the screw, thereby eliminating rattles and preventing loss.Silence the Squeaks: Stop panel vibration and rattling for a smoother, quieter ride.

Application Steps: Securing Fairing Screws for Easy Access

Preparation (Essential): Clean the threads of the screws and the receiving nut or clip thoroughly with a degreasing solvent, especially to remove any residual assembly grease. Ensure surfaces are dry.

Application: Apply a single, small drop of Re-Lok™ B22 Purple to the middle threads of the fairing screw. Only a minimal amount is required for effective light-duty locking.

Assembly: Install the fairing section and thread the screws by hand. Tighten the fasteners to the manufacturer’s specified torque value. Hand-tight is usually sufficient for plastic panels; avoid over-torquing.

Curing Time (Practical): While the initial cure is fast (around 20 minutes), for maximum security against high-speed vibration, allow a few hours before riding at high speeds.

Stop risking dangerous mechanical failures and secure your safety-critical components with the toughest chemical integrity.
