A cracked sight glass on a machine, a separated display cover, or a delaminated laminated panel does not always mean replacement. UV adhesives bond and repair glass in seconds with a clear, structural bond line, if the surfaces are prepared correctly and the cure is controlled. Glass transmits ultraviolet light well, so the lamp can cure the resin directly through the substrate even when the joint is hidden between two panes. The cured bond is water-clear with refractive index close to glass, so the repair is visually discreet. Cure takes 5 to 60 seconds under adequate irradiance, compared with hours for a two-part structural adhesive, and the one-part liquid has no pot life. Step-by-Step Repair Fit and fixture: align the pieces dry and hold them with tape, a jig, or light clamps so the gap is uniform. Dispense: apply the smallest bead that fills the joint. Water-thin grades can be wicked into an already-assembled crack by capillary action.
