  • A lightguide terminator is a precision-machined tip attachment that mounts onto the delivery end of a UV fiber optic lightguide. It redirects the UV light beam at a specific exit angle — 60° or 90° — relative to the lightguide axis, enabling curing in confined spaces, on vertical surfaces, and in assembly cavities that are inaccessible to a straight lightguide configuration.

  • A 90° terminator redirects UV light at a right angle to the lightguide axis — used when curing perpendicular to the direction of approach, such as vertical bond faces, side walls of housings, or PCB edge joints. A 60° terminator directs UV at an oblique 60° angle for recessed bondlines and angled cavities where a full right-angle approach is physically obstructed. Choose based on the geometric relationship between your lightguide approach axis and the target bond face.

  • Select the aperture that matches the core diameter of your lightguide. The Ø5mm terminator is suited to precision spot delivery on small bond joints and narrow geometries. The Ø8mm terminator provides a wider spot for larger bond areas and higher UV energy throughput. Mismatching the aperture to your lightguide core will cause UV energy loss at the connection interface.

  • Incure LGT-Series™ lightguide terminators are compatible with standard UV spot curing lightguides with Ø5mm or Ø8mm exit apertures — including Incure liquid light guide models LLG-1P-5 and LLG-1P-8 and compatible third-party UV lightguides with matching port dimensions.   • Use a lightguide terminator when the bondline is on a surface perpendicular or oblique to the direction the lightguide can physically approach. Common situations include vertical assembly surfaces, inside enclosed housings, alongside PCB edges, in catheter tip jigs, and in robotic fixtures where the light source must approach from a fixed direction but the cure site is at an angle.

  • Lightguide terminators are widely used in electronics assembly (bonding along PCB edges and inside component housings), medical device manufacturing (catheter bonding, needle assembly), optical assembly (prism and lens bonding in confined fixtures), and automotive sensor manufacturing where bond faces are often on vertical or angled surfaces within a larger assembly.
