Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about Epo-Weld™ HTSS high temperature silicone sealers.
-
Incure Epo-Weld™ HTSS high temperature silicone sealers are used to protect metals, ceramics, refractories, and glass from moisture, humidity, and chemical attack at temperatures up to 800°F. They provide dielectric insulation on heater ends, ceramic insulators, and instrument housings, and seal joints in furnace doors, exhaust manifolds, flange faces, and boiler casings.
-
Choose Epo-Weld™ HTSS-260 (200–300 cP) for horizontal surfaces and thin coatings where a low-viscosity sealer can flow and self-level. Choose HTSS-261 (2,000–4,000 cP) for vertical surfaces and porous ceramics where a thicker film is needed to prevent run-off. Choose HTSS-263 (18,000–25,000 cP paste) for gap filling, large void sealing, or applications where a non-sagging consistency is required.
-
All three Epo-Weld™ HTSS grades are rated to 800°F (427°C) continuous service temperature. They maintain flexible, dielectric properties across this range without cracking, carbonizing, or losing adhesion to metal, ceramic, or glass substrates.
-
Yes. All Epo-Weld™ HTSS grades cure to a dielectric silicone film with high electrical resistance. They are specifically recommended for sealing ceramic insulators, heater lead terminations, and instrument housings where preventing arcing and electrical leakage under high-temperature, high-humidity conditions is critical.
-
Yes. Epo-Weld™ HTSS sealers adhere to ceramics, porous refractories, glass, metals, and stainless steel. HTSS-261 is specifically engineered for sealing porous ceramics and refractories where standard low-viscosity sealers would absorb into the substrate rather than forming a surface film.
-
Apply Epo-Weld™ HTSS by brushing, spraying, or spatula onto a clean, dry surface. All three grades cure at room temperature in 24 hours via moisture absorption — no heat activation is required. For accelerated cure, mild heat may be applied. Final high-temperature properties are achieved during first thermal excursion in service.
